Stand after some verbs: like, dislike, love, hate, enjoy, start, begin, end, finish, stop,..... b. Stand after prepositions. c. Stand at the beginning of the sentences. Eg: We like listening to pop music. You should study carefully at home before going to school. 4. Asking for & responding to a favors. - Can / Could you help me? - What can I do for you? In, on, at, after, before, between...and, from.....to,...... 3.Modal verbs. a. must /have to : is used to show obligation. - The past form of them is “had to”. - The negative form is “not have to”. Eg:You must do your homework at home. b. Should / ought to : used for advising sb. Eg:You should go to class on time. 4.Why-questionsandBecause- answers. * Why –question is used to ask about reason, and the answer usually begin with Because. Eg: Why do you go to school late? Because I stayed up late last night. Exercise. They have lived there for 14 years. 6.The present progressive tense. Form: S + am/ is/ are + V- ing..... * Use: to talk about future intentions, the changes using “become” and “get”, actions happening at the moment of speaking at present. Eg: - I am visiting my grandmother next week. - He is watching TV now. 7. Comparision of Adjs and advs. a. Comparative Adjs and Advs. S +be +(short adj + ER/ MORE long adj ) than N. V + ( short adv + ER / MORE long adv) Eg: - I am not taller than he is. - He runs faster than I do. b. Superlative Adjs and Advs. S + be + the ( short adj + EST/ MOST long adj ) ... V + the ( short adv + EST/ MOST long adv) . Eg: - She is the tallest in my class. c. As .......as. S + be + (not) as adj as ...... V + as adv as .....
