Lesson 2: GETTING STARTED, LISTEN AND READ
I. OBJECTIVES:
Teaching aims: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to talk about favorite activities in free time, introduce oneself and the others, use structure “enough”, describe appearance.

1. Warm – Up: (5’)
- Ask questions
1. What are these students doing?
2. What time of the day do you think it is?
3. Do you play soccer (after school)?
4. When do you play soccer? 
5. Who do you like to play with?
	2. Presentation: (10’)
- Introduce the lesson”Hoa is talking to Lan about Nien, her next-neighbor in Hue”
- Ask Ss some questions about Nien.
1. Where does Nien live?
2. How old is she?
3. Is she Hoa’s classmate?
4. Is she beautiful?
- Explain new words: 
+ seem (v)
 Ex: She seems beautiful.
+ next-door (adj)
+ look like (v)
Ex: What does she look like? = What’s she like?
+ enough (adv)
Ex: She wasn’t old enough to be in my class.
- Ask Ss to practice the new words.
- Explain grammar: be (not) + adj + enough + to-inf
Ex: She wasn’t old enough to be in my class.
3. Practice: (15’)
- Play the tape for Ss three times. 
- Have Ss practice the dialogue in pairs.
- Call some Ss to practice the dialogue.
- Ask Ss to read the dialogue to recheck the 
pre-reading questions.
1. She lives in Hue.
2. She is twelve.
 3. No, she isn’t.
 4. Yes, she is.
- Ask Ss to to answer the questions: 
a. She lives in Hue.
b. No, she doesn’t.
c. The sentence “She wasn’t old enough to be in my class’.
d. She’s going to visit Hoa at Christmas.
4. Production: (13’)
- Have Ss practice the structures: 
A. “What does … look like?
 1. Thu / young 2. Mr. Long / fat
 3. Nam / short 4. Mrs. Nga / old
B. “Be (not) + adj + enough to + V-inf”
1. Nam / strong / carry that heavy box.
2. The fire / not hot / boil the kettle.
3. They / tall / play volleyball
4. Mr. Thanh / not rich / buy a big house.
5. Homework: (2’)
- Reread the dialogue and learn by heart vocabulary.
- Prepare next lesson: Unit 1-Speak & Listen/ p.11,12.
- Whole class, answer the questions:
