OBJECTIVES: - By the end of the lesson , Ss will be able to write a letter about activities their did in their last vacation. II. PREPARATIONS: Textbook, sub-boardS. III. PROCEDURES: TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES SS’ ACTIVITIES 1 / Warm-up : (8’) * Network Parts of a letter opening heading writer’s body of name the letter writer’s closing address date - Get Ss to play game. - Play game. 2/ Pre-writing: (15’) - Set the scene:“ You are visiting your friends or relatives in another part of VietNam or in a diffrent country” - Explain to write a personal letter: -Ask Ss to read the outline of the letter. - Interviewer: + First paragrap: Who did you visited? Where does he live? When did you arrived there? Who met you at the bus ststion? + Second pragraph: Which places did you visit? Who did you meet? What kind of food did you eat? What will you buy? + Third paragrap: How do you feel about the visit? What interests of people/ places? When will you return home? - Get Ss to work in pairs. - Listen to the teacher. - Listen to the teacher: - Read the outline of the letter. - Answer the questions to make the letter. S: I visited Lan, my friend. She lives in HaNoi. I arrived last week ............ -Work in pairs. E.g: S1: What did you do? S2:I visited Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum,the History museum..I met Lan’s friends and we ate “nem chua” ............... 3/ While-writing: (15’) - Let Ss write a letter in individually. - Ask Ss to compare their answer with the partners. - Write a letter in individually. - Compare their answer with the partners. *Suggested answer: Dear Mum, I arived at Da Lat station at 10a.m on Sunday. Lan met me at the bus station, then she took me home by bicycle. I’ve visited to many places like Xuan Huong lake, Valley of love, Da Lat market. I’ve tried “BunCha”. It’s delicious. I’ll buy some souvenirs for you. I fell so happy and enjoy myself very much. The people here are so friendly. The sights are so beautiful. I will leave Da Lat next week. Please pick me up at the bus station at 2pm on Thursday. Yours sincerely, 4/ Post-writing: (6’) - Call on some Ss to read the letter. - Listen and correct( content, grammar, spelling) - Read the letter. - Listen and copy. 5/ Homework: (2’) - Have Ss: + Write the letter in notebook. + Prepare language focus. - Write assignments. OBJECTIVES: - By the end of the lesson , Ss will be able to grasp the use of the past simple and get acquainted with “ Conditional sentence type 2 “ , using with WISH. II. PREPARATIONS: Textbook, sub-boards. III. PROCEDURES: TEACHER/S ACTIVITIES SS/ ACTIVITIES 1 / Warm-up : (7’) Pelmanism - Review the past simple tense of some verbs. Infinitive Past tense Meet watch See Go Buy - Work in groups to play game. 2/ Exercises: (28’) $ Practice 1: - Ask Ss to look at the dialogue in the book and guide “ These above are dialogues between two Ss talking about things Ba did last week “ - Tell them to work in pairs , study the table and make similar dialogue about Nga , Lan , Hoa’s weekend. - Call on some pairs to read the dialogues aloud. * Example: Nga A : What did Nga do on the weekend ? B : She went to a concert performed by Ha Noi singers A : When did she go? B : She went on Saturday evening at 8 pm . $ Practice 2 : - Introduce “ Lan and her friends are holding a farewell party for Maryam”. - Write the things they did for the party , Using the pictures and the words in the boxes to help you . - Call on some Ss to read the answers aloud . - Remark and correct mistakes if any . - Give the correct answers : 1. baked a cake 2. hung colorful lamps on the wall in the room . 3. bought flowers 4. painted a picture of Ha Noi 5. went shopping $ Practice 3 : Conditional sentence type 2 used with Wish - Remind the conditional sentence type 2 used with Wish : * S + wish(es) + S + V(2/ed) Example : - You are not very old . ( That is the fact and you can not change it ) I wish I were younger . - Have Ss work with a partner and write the wishes with the situations in the lesson . - Call on some Ss to read them aloud , correct mistakes and give correct answers : b) I wish I were in the swimming pool now . c) I wish I had a computer . d) I wish I lived close to school . e) I wish I had a sister . f) I wish I drew well . g) I wish I had my friend,s phone number. h) I wish I knew many friends . i) I wish it rained so often in my home town . j) I wish there were rivers and lakes in my hometown. - Look at the dialogues and read them aloud . - Work in pairs to make similar dialogues. - Practice the dialogue in the front . - Repeat the suggested dialogues . - Listen carefully and do the exercise. - Write individually - Read the answers loudly . - Copy down - Listen and copy down . Then make some examples . - Work in pairs - Read the complete sentences loudly and copy . 3/ Consolidation: (8’) - Have Ss do the task. Rewrite the following sentences a WISH construction . 1. I’m sorry he gets up so late .2. It’s a pity we haven’t a knife .3. I can’t swim. 4. I wanted to win. - Work individually. 1. I wish he didn’t get up late. 2. I wish we had a knife. 3. I wish I could swim. 4. I wish I won. 4/ Homework: (2’) - Have Ss: + Redo and copy down the exercises. + Do the exercise 7/p.10 in workbook. + Prepare the next lesson. - Write assignments. IV.
