I. OBJECTIVES:
Teaching aims: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to describe the picture by using structure: “What is that?/ What are those?”, listen and describe the house.
II. PREPARATIONS: Book, cassette player and tape

1. Warm – up: (5’)
- Show a picture, ask Ss to complete the sentences with There is/ There are.
“ There ----- a house. Behind the house there ----- tall trees. To the left of the house there’s a well. In front of the house there -------- a yard. To the right of the house, there -------- flowers.”
2. Presentation: (13’)
- Show the picture and set the scene: Nga is asking Phuong about the places.
- Introduce some new words:
 + bank (n)
 + post office (n) 
 + supermarket (n)
 + any:
- Ask Ss to practice the new words.
- Check vocabulary: “Rub out and remember”
- Give structure: 
+ What is that? - It’s a/ an 
+ What are those? - They are 
+ Are there any .? - Yes, there are./ No, there aren’t.
+ Is there a/ an ..?- Yes, there is./ No, there isn’t.
3. Practice: (17’)
- Have Ss look at the pictures.
- Say the model sentences:
a/ What’s that?
+ It’s a hotel.
b/ Is there a hotel near your house? 
 + Yes, there is.
- Have Ss practice in pair. 
- Call some pairs to practice.
- Have Ss look at the picture part 4/ p.74, choose one of the house and ask the partner questions to find out which house is.
4. Production: (8’)
- Have Ss listen to the tape part 5/ p.75; ask them to listen to the description and find out: which house is it?
Tape: There are some mountains behind the house. There is a tree to the right. There is a lake in front of the house.
- Call Ss to give the answer.

5. Homework: (2’)
- Ask students to write sentences with “Is there a / are there any?”
