WEEK 5 Date of planning: 10/10/2021 Date of teaching: 13/10/2021 UNIT 4: WHEN’S YOUR BIRTHDAY? Lesson 1 (1, 2) A. Objectives. - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Knowledge: - Ask and answer questions about dates. - Pupils can ask and answer about dates. - Sentence Patterns: What is the date today? − It’s ___. - Vocabulary: the first, the second, the third, the fourteenth, the twenty-second, the thirty-first, October, date, sorry 2. Skills. - Listening and speaking. 3. Attitudes/ Quality: - Live responsibly - Confident in learning and practice situations 4. Forming competence: - Self- study. - Communication and co-operation. B. TEACHING AIDS 1.Teacher: text book, recording, flashcards. 2. Students: books, notebooks. C. PROCEDURES * Warm up. -Tell ss that they are going to play game “Hot Seat” with teacher’s cards – T model and ss look then play game. * New lesson I. Presentation 1. Look, listen and repeat. - Have them look at the pictures and ask the questions: Who/Where/What - T introduce new words then ss listen and repeat them - Play the recording for ss to listen and repeat a few time - Do choral and individual repetition. - Call some pairs to read aloud and others give comments. II. Practice 2. Point and say. -T introduce the sentence pattern and new words What is the date today? It’s + the first of September. - Have ss repeat them a few times. - Have ss work in pairs: using the model sentence to ask and answer questions about dates. - Call some pairs to practise in front of the class and others give comments. III. Production. - Tell ss that they are going to practice more with their friends. - Get pupils to work in pairs to interact. - Call a few pairs to ask and answer questions about the days of week in front of the class and others give comments. D. HOME-LINK - Practise asking and answer questions about dates. - Learn by heart new vocab. - Do part 3, 4, 5 lesson 1in Student’s book. - Prepare new lesson. E. Lesson 2 (1, 2, 3) A. OBJECTIVES 1.Knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to ask and answer about someone’s birthday. 2. Competences: - Problems solving and creation - Communication and cooperation - Self-learning, independent working and pair work, group work - Linguistic competence 3. Quality: - Hardworking - Responsible - Honest 4. Skills: Listening and speaking. 5. Vocabulary: the first, the second, the third .. January to December 6. Grammar point: - When is your birthday? It’s + on the first of September. B. TEACHING AIDS 1. Teacher’s aids: Teacher’s book, chalk, board, ruler, projector/TV, laptop and flashcards 2. Students’ aids: Students’ books, workbooks, notebooks.. C. PROCEDURES *Warm-up: -The whole class sing “What’s the date today” song. * New lesson I. Presentation 1. Look, listen and repeat. - Have them look at the pictures and ask the questions: What/What day - Play the recording for ss to listen and tick a few times - Ask ss to compare their answers with their partners - Do choral and individual repetition. - Call some pairs to read aloud and others give comments. III. Production. - The whole class play “Face game” game - T guide ss play game – ss play game. D.
