Conjunctions: so, but, however and therefore

E.g:

1/ It began to rain, so I open my umbrella.

2/ I ‘d love to go to the theatre tonight, but I am too busy.

3/ The weather was cold, therefore she wore a coat.

4/ Mary told the truth. However no one believed her.

 

• ¬¬Use “comma” before “but, so, therefore”

• Use a full stop and followed by a comma with “therefore”

• Use a “semicolon” or a“ full stop” before “ however” (and followed by a comma)

+ so / therefore : introduce the result of something

+ but / however: express a contrast
