Exercise 1: Read the following passage and choose the best given answer A,B,C or D to fill in each gap:

 I have to get up every day at about seven because work really(1) about an hour before surgery when the phone calls start (2) in. My wife helps me with that because she usually answers the phone and that (3) me time to have breakfast and read the newspaper.

 I come from a family of five people : my parents, my two younger brother and I. My mother works as a nurse in a big hospital. She has to work long hours and once a week she has to work on a night shift. My father is a biologist.
