WEEK 25 Date of preparing: 12 /3 / 2022 Date of teaching : 15/ 3 / 2022 UNIT 17: WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO EAT? LESSON 3- Part 1,2,3 (page: 50,51) STAGE 1: DESIRED OBJECTIVES/ OUTCOMES A. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: (Cognition, Skill, Attribute, and Competence) 1. say questions and answers with the correct intonation. 2. mark the intonation with arrows through listening to three dialogues; 3. perform the chant “Healthy food and drink” in interesting ways, using appropriate and meaningful gestures; 4. show interests for their eating habits by using appropriate gestures and intonation when talking about daily food/drink. Then get the class to play the game: Pelmanism. -Tell students that they are going to practice saying questions and answers with the correct intonation. Activity 1: Pronunciation practice (Activity 1: Listen and repeat on page 50) - Ask Ss to open their books on page 50. Have Ss to look at the questions and answers. - Tell Ss that they are going to practise saying the questions and answers with the correct intonation. - Put the 2 questions and 2 answers on the board - Open the tape and have the Ss listen to the tape. - Play the recording a few times for pupils to listen and repeat. Do choral and individual repetition. *Note: Wh-questionsusually have a falling intonation, which can be marked with an arrow like this at the end. Activity 2: Listening practice (Activity 2: Listen and circle a or b. Then say the sentences aloud.) - Tell the class that they are going to listen to the recording and circle a or b - Give pupils a few seconds to read the sentences in silence before playing the recording for them to do the task. - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen. Then play it again for them to mark the intonation. - Get Ss to compare their answers in pairs before checking as a class. - Ask them to read the sentences aloud. Activity 3: Chant practice (Activity 3: Let’s chant on page 50) - Show the chart of the chant“Healthy food and drink” - Tell pupils that they are going to say the chant “Healthy food and drink” - Follow the procedure in Teaching the unit components in Introduction. - Have them read the chant and check comprehension. - Play the recording a few times for pupils to do choral and individual repetition. - Show them how to chant and do actions. Call two groups to give a demonstration. - Get groups to sit opposite of each other and practice chanting and doing actions. Go around offering help, if necessary. - Call two groups to the front of the class to chant and do actions. The rest of the class claps along to the rhythm. Activity 4: Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? (say questions and answers with the correct intonation.) 2. What’re the core values of the lesson? (show interests for their eating habits by using appropriate gestures and intonation when talking about daily food/drink.) - Remind students to do part 4 (Read and do the tasks) and part 5(write about their eating habits, part 6 (project) (Unit 17, Lesson 3 on pages 51). OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: (Cognition, Skill, Attribute, and Competence) 1. Introduce communication situations: Linda is watching the weather forecast on TV. (setting, participants, topics) 2. Ask and answer their friends about what the weather will be like tomorrow, using the sentence patterns “What will the weather be like tomorrow? It’ll be and .” 3. Show polite attitude by using appropriate gestures and intonation when asking and answering what the weather will be like tomorrow. Then get the class to sing the song :“Healthy eating and drinking .” - Tell students that they are going to read a dialogue in which students ask and answer questions about stories and lead students to the new lesson. Activity 1: Language input (Activity 1: Look, listen and repeat.) - Have Ss to look at the book on page 52; identify the characters in the pictures and what they are saying. + Who are they? + Where are they? + What are they talking about? - Play the recording and asks Ss to listen to the tape twice - Explain the meaning of the new words: - T asks Ss to listen and repeat in chorus three times. - Have Ss listen to the recording as they read the lines in the speech bubbles - Play the recording again for Ss to repeat the dialogue two times. - Let Ss practice the dialogue in pairs. - Gets some pairs to read it aloud. - Play the recording again for the whole class to repeat each line in the speech . - T elicits the structures by asking Ss to speak out the model sentence: Model sentences:What will the weather be like tomorrow ? Activity 2: Controlled & guided practice Task 1: Controlled practice (Activity 2: Point and say.) - Have sts see the pictures and identify the places in the pictures - T runs through. - T asks Ss to match the pictures with the health problems using Sach Mem. - T models: T: What will the weather be like tomorrow ? S: It will be cold and snowy. - Open-pairs; close-pairs. - Call on some pairs to perform the task at the front of the class. - Have Ss look and describe 4 pictures - Ask Ss to read aloud 4 pictures - Ask Ss to practice asking and answering about what someone is going to do on Sports Day using picture a, b, c and d. - Monitor the activity, check the pronunciation - Some Ss report in front of class. Others observe and give comments if possible. - Make some questions to check Ss’ comprehension of language. - Have the whole class repeat all the phrases to reinforce their pronunciation. - T gives comment. Task 2: Guided practice (information gap activity) Tell your partners - Say: “ You are going to practice answering the question about the weather.’’ - Tell pupils that they are going to practise asking and answering about the weather - Do the task with one pupil as a model. Put the sentences on the board and do choral and individual repetition. Go around offering help and correcting pronunciation, if necessary. - Select some pairs of pupils to role-play in front of the class. Activity 3: Wrap -up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today?
