OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: (Cognition, Skill, Attribute, and Competence) 1. Identify specific information through listening to conversations to circle with one word. 2. Listen and circle with one word. 3. Read and fill the gapped conversation, using the words provided. 4. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES - Textbook: Tiếng Anh 5- Student’s book, page 67 Sachmem.vn. - Flashcards for Unit 20, poster for Unit 20. - A board, a computer, a projector. Then get the class to play the game “Slap the board”. - Lead into the new lesson. Activity 1: Listening practice (Activity 1: Listen and circle a or b.) - Tell pupils that they are going to listen and circle a or b to answer the questions. - Remind them to pay attention to the names of places when they listen. - Play the recording the second time. - Ask pupils to listen again and circle. - Ask pupils to give answers - Play the recording again for pupils to listen and check - Give correct answers. *Key: 1. c 2. a 3. b 4. c Activity 2: Controlled & guided practice Task 1: Reading practice (Activity 2: Read and complete.) - Tell the class that they are going to read the text and fill the gapped sentences. - Have them read the dialogue. Give the meanings of unfamiliar words if necessary. - Set a time limit for pupils to do the task independently - Ask pupils to read aloud their answers. - Ask other pupils to give feedback. - Give the correct answers. * Key: 1. come 2. city 3 .bigger 4. beautiful 5. than Task 2: Guided practice (Let’s play) The game “Pass the secret” - Tell the class that they are going to play game: Pass the secret!. - Divide pupils into groups of six or seven. - Ask them to line up in rows. Then whisper a sentence to the first pupil in each row. - The first pupil then whispers the sentence to the second one. The last pupil in the row says aloud the sentence that he/sheheard. + If he/she says the sentence correctly, the group will score one point. + The group with the most points is the winner. Activity 3: Wrap -up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? (Read, listen, and circle the letters showing the correct words filling the gapped sentences). 2. What’re the core values of the lesson? (Studious and obedient students and love their hometown, family and friends.). - Prepare for the next lesson. LESSON 3: 1+2+3 STAGE 1: DESIRED OBJECTIVES/ OUTCOMES A. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Identify specific information through saying the sentences with the correct intonation. 2. Read, listen and mark the sentence intonation ( or ). Then say the sentences aloud. 3. Say the chant: Which one is more ? 4. Studious and obedient students and love their hometown, family and friends. B. LANGUAGE FOCUS - Sentence Patterns: Revision - Vocabulary: Revision C. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES. - Textbook: Tiếng Anh 5, Student’s book page 68. - Track (Unit 20-page 68), - Situational pictures and character cards - A board, a computer and a projector. Activity 1: Listening practice (Activity 1: Listen and repeat.) - Tell the class that they are going to practice saying question and answer with falling intonation. - Ask pupils to look at the book and listen - Play the recording for pupils to listen again and repeat. - Play it again to do choral repetition until they feel confident. - Ask pupils to say the questions and answers in pairs. - Call some pairs to practice in front of class. Other’s pupils to give comments. - Gives comments. - Correct mistakes of pronunciation. Activity 2: full controlled & less controlled Task 1: Listening practice (Listen and mark the sentence intonation. Then say the sentences aloud). - Tell pupils that they are going to listen to the recording and mark the sentence intonation. - Play the recording for pupils to listen - Ask pupils to listen again and do the task - Play the recording again for pupils to listen and check. - Give feedback. Task 2: Let’s chant. Which one is more ? - Tell class that they are going to say the chant: Which one is more ? - Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen and follow in their books. - Play the recording again, pausing after each line for pupils to repeat. - Play the recording once more for pupils to repeat the whole chant. - Put the class into three groups to practice chanting: one chants the questions and the other chants the answers - Get them to practice chanting and doing actions in groups - Invite three groups to say the chant and do actions - Give feedback. - Ask the class to listen again and chant Activity 3: Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? (Say the sentences with the correct intonation). 2. What’re the core values of the lesson? (Studious and obedient students and love their hometown, family and friends.) - Remind students to prepare for the next lesson. D.
