Week 17 Period 29 UNIT 13: WOUL YOU LIKE SOME MILK? LESSON 1: 1+2 (page: 18) STAGE 1: DESIRED OBJECTIVES/ OUTCOMES A. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. identify the situation for the conversation among Tom and Mai(setting, participants, topics); 2. interview their friends about your favour food and drink, using the sentence patterns “What’s your favourite drink/food? It’s )”; 3. show interests for each other’s favourite food and drink by using appropriate gestures and intonation when asking and answering B. LANGUAGE FOCUS Vocabulary : favourite, food, drink,chicken, orange juice, beef,pork,warter Key grammatical structure What’s your favourite drink/food? It’s )”; The sentence patterns: C. Then get the class to listen and sing the song Activity 1: Look, listen and repeat - Ask students to look at the four pictures (page 18) and answer questions to identify the situation for the conversation. 1. Who are they? (They are Tom and Mai) 2. Where are they? (in his bedroom, in the canteeen) 3. What are they doing?( talking about their favourite food and drink) - Tell students that they are going to listen a conversation among Tom and Mai. - Play the recording, ask students to listen and repeat the dialogue - Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking. - Play the recording again for students to listen and repeat. - Elicit the sentence pattern : What’s your favourite drink/food? Activity 3: Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? (talk about favourite food and drink and use the sentence pattern “What’s your favourite drink/food? It’s )” to ask and answer about other’s favourite food and drink) 2. What’re the core values of the lesson? show interests for each other’s favourite food and drink by using appropriate gestures and intonation when asking and answering. - Remind students to prepare for the next lesson. Activity 1: Language input (Activity 1: Look, listen and repeat.) - Ask students to look at the three pictures (page 20) and answer questions to identify the situation for the conversation. 1. Who are they? (they are mother ,Linda and Mai) 2. Where are they? (in the dining room) 3. What are they doing?( talking about food and drink. ) - Ask students to look at picture a (Activity 1) (page 20) and answer the following questions: 4. What does their mother ask? (Would you like some noodles? Would you like some milk? 5. What does Linda answer? (Yes , please/ No,Thanks) - Elicit the sentence patterns: : Would you like some + food/drink?? ->.-> Yes, please./ No, thanks. - Tell students that they are going to practise asking and answering questions offering someone food and drink and accepting or decline someone’s offer. - Play the recording more than once, if necessary, ask students to listen and repeat the dialogue - Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking. - Play the recording again for students to listen and repeat.
