- Ask pupils to open their Student’s Book on Page 9. Tell them that they are going to read the dialogues and tick the correct pictures.
- Let pupils read the dialogues and do the task individually. Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary.
- Ask pupils to exchange their answers with their partners to find out possible answers.
- Ask some pupils to report their answers to the class.
- Announce the answers to the class. Provide explanation(s) when necessary.
- Have the whole class repeat all the phrases to reinforce their pronunciation.

- Ask pupils to read the two dialogues on Page 8 in order to check their pronunciation of the sound of the letters ng and that of the letter n.

2. Listen and repeat. (10-11’)
- Ask pupils to open their Student’s Book on Page 10. Tell them that they are
going to listen to and repeat the dialogue between Mr Robot and Tom. Teach the word bored and explain its meaning.
- Play the recording through or read the dialogue aloud for pupils to listen as they follow the dialogue.
- Play the recording again, pausing after each line for pupils to repeat.
- Divide the class into two groups. Ask one group to repeat Mr Robot’s part and the other Tom’s part. Repeat the step, but this time ask the groups to swap their roles.
- Play the recording again for the whole class to repeat the dialogue. Correct pupils’ pronunciation mistakes when necessary.

3. Look and say. (7-10’)
- Ask pupils to look at Pictures a, b, c, and d on Page 10. Tell them that they are going to practise answering the question How are you? in four different situations.
- Ask pupils to identify the people in each picture (Picture a: Mr Robot and Mai; Picture b: Mr Brown and Mr Green; Picture c: Mrs Lan and Mrs Green and Picture d: Mr. Robot and Phong).
- Do the task with one pupil as a model (e.g. Pupil: How are you, Miss Huong?
– Teacher: I’m bored, Nga.).
- Ask pupils to work in pairs to practise asking and answering the question How are you?, using the word under each picture (bored, OK, well, happy) as a cue. Monitor the activity, offer help and correct pupils’ mistakes when necessary.
- Call on some pairs of pupils to practise asking and answering the question How are you? in front of the class.
- Write the correct answers on the board for pupils to copy down into their notebooks.
- Have the whole class read each sentences to reinforce their pronunciation.

4. Let’s write. 
(7-10’)
- Ask pupils to open their Student’s Book on Page 11. Tell them that they are going to complete the bubbles, using the expressions (Good evening, Good afternoon) in the yellow boxes.
- Help pupils to identify each part of the day it is in each picture (Picture a:
evening and Picture b: afternoon).
- Ask pupils to complete the bubbles individually and then exchange their answers with their partners. Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary.
- Call on some pupils to report their answers to the class.
- Announce the answers to the class. Provide explanation(s) when necessary.

- Have pupils turn their books to Page 12 and look at pictures a and b. Ask pupils the names of the characters and what they say. Tell them that they are going to ask someone’s name. Point to the first picture and elicit the names of characters and what they say. Explain the meaning of the language practised.
- Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking.
- Play the recording for pupils to listen and say along.

3. Point and say. 
(8-10’)
- Tell pupils that they are going to practise asking and answering the question What’s your name?
- Have pupils look at two pictures Ask them to identify the characters in the pictures. Use flash cards to teach the greetings in the speech bubbles. Have pupils repeat the phrases a few times.
- Model: Call on a pair and ask them to pretend to be Peter and Phong to act out the greeting exchange. Repeat the step but this time have the pair swap their parts. Call on one more pair to act out as Linda and Quan, following the same way with Peter and Phong. Have the class repeat all the phrases in this section.
- Do choral and individual repetition, using the characters’s names.
- Call on some pairs to perform the task at the front of the class. The rest of the class observe and give comments if possible.
- Make a few questions to check pupils’ comprehension of the language.
- Have the whole class repeat all the phrases in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation.

4. Let’s talk. 
(8-10’)
- Tell pupils that they are going to practise more with friends. Point to Nam and Quan and elicit what they say. Fill the gaps and put the sentences on the board. Get pupils do choral and individual repetition a few times. Fill the speech bubbles with the correct phrases provided by pupils. Then have them repeat the sentences in the bubbles a few times before letting them practise freely. Pupils could use the names in their books or their real names to practise.
- Pupils practise acting out in pairs, using the pictures in their books or the character puppets. Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary. Correct typical pronunciation error(s).
- Call a few pairs to act out the dialogue in front of the class. Check as a class.
- Have the whole class repeat all the phrases to reinforce their pronunciation.
