UNIT 1: A VISIT FROM A PEN PAL
 LESSON 2: SPEAK + LISTEN
I. OBJECTIVES: 
- By the end of the lesson , Ss will be able to:
+ Practice speaking to introduce oneself and respond other’s introduction.
+ Listen and choose the correct pictures.
II. PREPARATIONS: Textbook, cassette player, tape and some pictures
III. PROCEDURES:

1 / Warm-up : (8’)
* Pelmanism:
- Prepare ten cards with numbers on one side and the countries and the cities on the other side.
Tokyo
Perth
Liverpool
Kua Lar Lumpur
Hoi An
Japan
Australia
England
Malaysia
Vietnam
- Divide Ss into two teams and ask them to choose two numbers.
- Turn over the cards and sees if they match. If not, turn the card face down again and asks the other team to choose.
- Continue until all the cards are turn over.
- Prepare to play game.
- Observe to the cards carefully.
- Work in groups.
2/ Pre-speaking: (12’)
Activity 1:
- Introduce the situation:“ Nga is talking to Maryam. They are waiting for Lan outside her school.”
- Ask Ss to do exercise a) on page 8.
- Ask Ss to work in pairs to discuss and then share the answers to the partners.
Activity 2:
- Make questions to check Ss’ understanding.
*Questions:
a. Does Maryam live in a city, too?
b. Are the two cities the difference or the same?
c. What does she like in Viet Nam?
- Ask Ss to practice speaking the dialogue.
- Listen to the introduction of the teacher.
- Put the dialogue in the correct order.
- Work in pairs to discuss and then share the answers to the partners.
* Answers: 
1C ,5B ,4D ,2E ,3A ,6
- Listen and answer the teacher’s questions
*Answers:
a. Yes 
b. the same 
c. Vietnamese people is very friendly and Hanoi is a very interesting city.
- Work in pairs.
3/ While-speaking: (15’)
- Ask Ss to work in pairs to talk by using the information in the book and make similar dialogues introducing yourself to Maryam ‘s friend.
- Call some pairs to practice in front the class.
- Check the mistake if necessary. 
* Example: 
Tuan : Hello, you must be Paul?
Paul: That’s right, I am.
Tuan: Pleased to meet you,Let me introduce myself. My name is Tuan. I am 15 years old.
Paul:Nice to meet you.Do you live in Dam Rong?
Tuan: Yes ,I do. Is it the first time you have been to Viet Nam?
Paul: Yes, Vietnamese people are friendly, the food is delicious, and the beaches are verry beautiful.
Tuan: Where do you live ? Do you live in big city?
Paul: I live in Liverpool. It is an industrial city, in the north of England. Have you been there?
Tuan: No, I hope I will be able to go there.
- Work in pairs to talk by using the information in the book and make similar dialogues introducing yourself to Maryam‘s friend.
- Practice in front the class.
4/ Post-speaking: (8’)
- Ask Ss to look at the pictures, then give the differences between the two pictures in a,b,c.
- Play the tape and ask Ss to listen twice and choose the correct picture.
* Answers:

B – 2
C – 2 
- Look at the pictures, then give the differences between the two pictures in a,b,c.
- Listen to choose the correct picture.
5/ Homework: (2’)
- Have Ss:
+ Rewrite the dialogue in notebook and learn by heart.
+ Prepare the next lesson “Read”
- Copy down.

- Use the map of the South East Asian Nations.
1. What is this?
2. How many countries are there in the South East Asian Nations?
3. Which country is this. Do you know its capital?
- Introduce the lesson.
- Answer the questions.

2. 10: Viet Nam, Laos, ......
3. Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur
- Listen.
2/ Pre-reading: (12’)
$ Activity 1: Vocabulary
- Elicit the words from the Ss and says them out.
I. Vocabulary:
Ø Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN): (explanation)
Ø be devided into (v): (example)
Ø be seperated by (v): (explanation)
Ø be widely spoken(v): (explanation)
- Use “ What & Where” to check vocab.
- Ask Ss to guess the meaning: Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam.
$ Activity 2: Open prediction(Part a-P.10)
- Hang on the Grids and explains the task.
- Ask Ss to work in groups to guess the information about Malaysia.
- Get feedback.
- Try out & repeat chorally-individually 
- Read & rewrite.
- Skim the text & give their answers.
- Follow teacher’s.
- Work in groups & give their answers on the board.
