Date : UNIT 13 ( cont. ) FESTIVALS LANGUAGE FOCUS Period: LESSON 5: I. Aim Students will be able to practice in reporting what was said and further practice in using the passive forms. II. Language contents: 1/.Grammar: Passive forms. Reported speech. 2/.Vocabulary: ( v. ) jumble, scatter. ( n. ) jar. III. Techniques: Pelmanism, matching. Gap-fill, transformation drill. IV. Teaching aids: cardboards. V. Procedures: Teacher’s and Ss’ activities Content Teacher prepares 11 cards, numbered from 1 – 11 on one side and the words on the other side. Teacher sticks the cardboards on the board showing the numbered side. Teacher divides the class into 2 groups and asks each group ( a student ) to choose 2 numbers. Students practise. Teacher asks students to match the words in column A with the forms in column B. Students practice individually. Teacher asks them to give their answers on the board. Teacher remarks. Teacher asks students to look at LF 1 and fill in the gaps with the right form of the verbs in the box. Students practice in pairs. Teacher calls on some students to go to the board and write their answers. Teacher presents new words. Students listen, repeat and copy. Students read and give the meanings. Teacher asks students to look at LF 2 on page 128 and 129 and fill in the gaps with the right form of the verbs in the box. Students practice in pairs. Teacher calls on students to give their answers on the board. - Teacher elicits the examples and writes them on the board. Students observe and copy. - Teacher guides students to do LF 3 +Students practice in pairs and give their answers on the board. Teacher remarks. -Teacher sets the scene. + Students listen. - Teacher writes the quoted speech on the board. - Teacher asks students to repeat what the man said. - Teacher explains Reported speech and asks students to pay attention to the changes in tenses. + Students listen and copy. - Teacher explains how to change pronouns ( depending on the subject of the main clause ) - Teacher explains how to change adverbs of place and time. + Students listen and copy. - Teacher gives an example. + Students observe and copy. - Teacher asks students to look at LF 4 and do the exercise. - Teacher lets students retell the sentences first, then ask them write down. - Teacher calls on some students to go to the board and write the sentences. - Teacher corrects. -Teacher guides. + Students listen and write. 1.Warm up: (5ms) Pelmanism: Infinitive - Past participle Infinitive Past participle Put Write Hold Make Break Put Written Held Made Broken 2.
