T: Asks Ss to look at the picture and answer the questions. Ss: do it in speaking. II. White teaching. 1.Write the correct form of the verds - T: asks Ss to do the task individually. -T: corrects their answers (and may call some Ss to say their answers separately) T gives explanation if necessary 2.Correct the sentences T: Allows Ss to write the sentences in their notebooks, referring to interview. -T:Calls 1 or 2 Ss to write on the board -Ss: Do them. - Ss: Check their answers sentence by sentence * The use and the form for present simple tense. - T:asks Ss to give the rule and use of the present simple themselves. -T: Let them study the grammar box. -T: can add something and give more examples if necessary 3. At break time, Phong reads in the library 1- Usage: We use the present simple to talk about things in general .We also use it to say that something happens all the time or repeatedly. 2- Formation: Positive: *I/ we/ you/ they/ pl. noun + V *He/She /It/ S.noun +V-s/ V-es Negative *I/We…….+don’t/ do not+ V * He/she…+doesn’t/ does not + V Questions and short answers *Do+ You/ I/we…+V? àYes ,I/ we…. do (or) à No, I/we …… don’t *Does+ he/she…..V? àYes ,he/she…. does (or) à No, he/she …… doesn’t Key: 1. Sums up Emphasize the present simple tense and present continuos tense 4. Homework: Write five sentences in present simple tense about you. -Prepare communication * The present continuous -T: Asks Ss to refer to the conversation in Getting Started. T can ask Ss to focus on the verbs used in the present continuous. -Play the recording again and ask Ss to listen and follow the conversation on the page. 4. Underline the present continuos form. -T: Asks Ss to underline the present continuous form: is knocking…, is having…, are wearing… -Ss: Use the grammar box to help you explain how the present continuous is formed and used 5. Complete the sentences -T: Have Ss study the example first. -T: Asks them to give the correct verb forms. (Ask them to repeat the verb form in each sentence, and read the whole sentences correctly). -T may ask them to say why to use the tense in each sentences. 6.Chose the correct tense of the verbs -T: Asks Ss to do the sentences by themselves or in pairs. –T: correct their mistakes (asks why they use the present simple or the present continuous, focusing on the context of the sentences such as use of adverbs of time: now, on Mon day and Sunday…, or the command: Look!..) 7. Read Vy’s e-mail to her friend -T: Have Ss do the task by themselves. Then they can discuss their answers with a partner before discussing with the class a. Underline things that often happen or are fixed. Then underline things that are happening now. b. Help Ss compare Vy’s first week with theirs individually. They can write in their notebooks. Then T calls them to read out theirs sentences, and corrects their mistakes. 1-Usage:We use the present continuous to talk about something which is happening at or around the time of speaking 2- Formation: Positive: S+ am /is/ are + V-ing Negative S + am not/ isn’t/ aren’t+ V-ing Questions and short answers Am / Is/ Are + S + V-ing ? àYes, S + am /is/ are. à No, S + am not/ isn’t/ aren’t. is knocking…, is having…, are wearing… Key: 1. am not playing 2. are studying 3. aren’t doing 4. am having 5. are riding Key: 1. are having 2. wears 3. starts 4. is watching 5. are skipping How are you? This is the first week at my new school. Now, I’m doing my homework in the library. I have lots to do already! I have lots of friends, and they are all nice to me. We study many subjects – maths, science, and English of course! I have a new uniform, but I don’t wear it every day (only on Mondays and Saturdays). I have lessons in the morning. In the afternoon I read books in the library or do sports in the playground. How is your new school? Do you study the same subjects as me? Do you play badminton with your friends? PREPARATION : sub -board, pictures, cassette III. TECHNIQUES: pair work, communicative approach. III. PROCEDURES: Teacher’s and students’ activities Content Activity 1: -First, have Ss guess the meaning of vocabulary. -Tell Ss that this vocabulary will appear in the tasks that follow -Then T asks Ss to answer these questions: *How do you often make friends? *What do you often say when you first meet a new friend? * What questions do you often ask? (name/ age/ hobby) Activity 2: -Individually Ss read and tick the questions. -Then T lets them discuss in groups. -T may ask why or why not they ticked this or that question. -Allow Ss some time to write questions on a piece of paper, share them with the class or group. Activity 3: Friendship quiz -First, ask Ss to give qualities of a good friend in class (adjective). - They can give as many words as possible E.g.: friendly, generous, helpful, cheerful, etc. -Divide the class into groups of 4 or 5. PREPARATION : sub -board, pictures, cassette III. TECHNIQUES: pair work, communicative approach. III. PROCEDURES: Teacher’s and students’ activities Content READING Activity 1: -Tell Ss to read the three passages quickly in four minutes T check their ideas by asking them to close their books and finding out which school has the suitable information: PLC SYSNEY – VINABRITA SCHOOL – AN LAC LOWER SECONDARY SCHOOL 194 students- international school- in Australia – Bac Giang Province- 1,250 girls -boarding school- art club -Let Ss open their books and correct Activity 2: - Ask Ss to read the passages again, then find the words in the passages. - Give the meaning of the words, explanations and examples (Vietnamese equivalent) - Tell them to pay attention to the context of the words: Activity 3: -Have Ss reread the text and find words to finish the sentences -Ask Ss to note where they found the information that helped them complete the sentences. Then, call some individuals to read aloud to the class in order to check their pronunciation and intonation. 3. Australia SPEAKING Activity 4: -Ask Ss to refer back to the three schools. Give some background of the schools - PLC Sydney (Presbyterian Ladies College Sydney): an international school for girls from kindergarten to year 12 in Sydney, Australia. - An Lac Lower Secondary School: a small school in a mountainous region in Son Dong Dist, Bac Giang Province. - Vinabrita School: an international school for Ss from year 1 to year 12 in Ha Noi. - Allow Ss time to answer the questions complete the table in their notebooks. - PLC Sydney (Presbyterian Ladies College Sydney): an international school for girls from kindergarten to year 12 in Sydney, Australia. - An Lac Lower Secondary School: a small school in a mountainous region in Son Dong Dist, Bac Giang Province. - Vinabrita School: an international school for Ss from year 1 to year 12 in Ha Noi. -Then divide the class into groups of 4 or 5, let them discuss their answer to the questions, and give reasons. When they finish, ask some Ss to talk to the class give their comments on their friends’ content, pronunciation, fluency, language (grammar, use of words …), body language, etc. (Discuss any common errors and provide further practice if necessary.
