I.The aims and objectives.
- Knowledge:
+ Vocabulary: T provides Sts with words: excited, smart, compass, calculator, pencil case, pencil sharpener.
+ Grammar: - revise simple tense, simple continuos tense and how to express Sts' ideas.
+ Skill : Listening and speaking.
+ Living skill: Sts know more about the new school.
By the end of this period, students will know more about the new school and their feelings on the first day at a new school.They will listen and read for specific information about a special day then practice listening and speaking with the lexical items related to the topic "My New School".
+ Behaviour: To educate the students to love their school.
Teaching day: Period 1. Unit 1. my new school. lesson 1: Getting started. How are you?/ Who’s absent today? 2.Checking up( 3’): Interview Sts some questions about the first day at a new school. a. How do you feel.....? b. What did you wear? c. Who did you meet first? -> T gives comments and introduces the new lesson. 3.The new lesson(38’): Content Teacher's Activities St's Activities Chatting ? What is your special day? ? Vocabulary - be ex'cited about (adj): phấn chấn, phấn khích - wear (v): mặc, đội - 'uniform ['ju:nifɔ:m] (n): bộ đồng phục - smart (adj) bảnh bao, nhanh trí -calculator ['kælkjuleitə] (n): máy tính - 'compass ['kʌmpəs] (n): la bàn - 'rubber (n): cục tẩy - 'heavy ['hevi] (n): nặng 2. Listen and read - They are Phong, his Mum, Vy and Duy. - He is having breakfast. - They are Phong's schoolmates. - Because it is their fisrt day a the new school. II. Practice 1. "You'll find out 3. used to invite sb in 4. used to say "yes/alright" 1.Oh dear = thường bày tỏ sự ngạc nhiên mang nghĩa phủ định ->used to express surprise (N) 2.You’ll see = bạn sẽ hiểu ra thôi ->you’ll find out. 3.come in = mời vào ->used to invite somebody in 4.sure = chắc chắn ->used to say yes/alright. -T gives example. Look around the class – what other things do you have in your classroom?Ask your teacher. Ex: I have a calculator. - T:để nói xem mình hay ai đó có gì,ta sử dụng với “to have” đi sau nó là 1 danh từ. table,desk,board……. + I have a new pen. + I have some new books. + I have some new notebooks. -Teacher introduces himself and gets some students to introduce themselves. - Teacher writes on the board: A special day ? Tell me "A special day" in vietnamese. - > We are learning about Phong, Vy and Duy's special day. - Teacher uses different techniques to teach vocab (situation, realia) - Follow the seven steps of teaching vacab. * Checking vocab: Recall * Set the sences: ? Look at the picture on page 6 ? Who are they? ? What is Phong doing? ? Who are Vy and Duy? ? Why is it a special day for them? - We are going to listen and read a dialogue about Phong, Vy and Duy's special day. - Play the recording twice. ? Listen and read then check your answer for the last question. ? Run through the statements. ? Work individually. ? Share answers with your partner. - Teacher gives feedback. ? Refer back to the conversation to find the expression. ? Practise sayiang them. ? What do they mean. - Teacher explains ? Role play the short conversation. - Divide the class into four groups ? Create short role-plays with the expressions in groups. - Have some pairs role play in front of the class. ? Look at part 2 p7 then listen to the poem. * Comprehension questions: a. Who is the poem about? b. Who is going back to school? c. What does he have? ? Which words can we replace to make a new one about your partner? ? Work in pairs and write a poem about your partner. - Have some students read their poem aloud. ? Run through all the words given. ? What are these words about? ? Match each word with a sutable pictures. - Play the record ? Listen and repeat then check your matching -Tell Ss to look around the class ask and answer “What do you see around the Class? -Let them practice the words then make up sentences with them. -Ss make sentences. Listen and answer individually - Repeat in chorus and individually - Copy all the words - Answer the questions individually. - Listen and read - Read one by one sentence. - Decide if they are true or false. - Refer back to the dialogue then find the expressions. - Read in chorus. - Rople play Group1: create short role-play with: "Oh, dear" Group2: create short role-play with: "You'll see" Group3: create short role-play with: "Come in" Group1: create short role-play with: "Sure" - Write the poem and read aloud. - Repeat chorally - Listen and repeat Ss answer -Ss listen IV - CONSOLIDATION 2’ Teacher gets students to retell the aims of the lesson. V- HOME WORK 1’ Prepare for the next lesson: Unit 1: Closer look 1. Do exercise A2 (p.3), B3, 5 (P.4,5) (Workbook).
