Home link: (5 minutes) - Ask Pupils to listen to the song Head, shoulder, knees and toes. - Have pupils look at the pictures on Page 7. - Ask them to identify the characters a, b, c, d and the time in the pictures. - Tell them that they are going to play roles in each picture to greet to each others. - Poit to the man in the picture and say Good morning … Have the class say Good morning. - Repeat the step but this time swaps the roles. - Have pupils use the pictures in their books to practice talking in pairs. - Monitor the activity, check pupils’ pronunciation, and offer them help when necessary. - Call on a pair to demonstrate the task at the front of the class. The rest of the class observe and give comments. - Ask pupils a few questions to check their comprehension. - Have the whole class repeat all the sentences practiced to reinforce pupils’ pronunciation. - Have pupils to look at the pictures on Page 7. Elicit them to talk about the characters in the pictures and the relationship of these characters. - Tell pupils that they are going to listen to the recording, match the information they hear to the correct pictures, ticking the box in the corner of the appropriate picture. - Play the recording for pupils to listen. Tell them to look closely at the pictures in their books while they are listening. - Play the recording once more for pupils to listen. Home link: (5 minutes) - Ask Pupils to sing the Head, shoulders, knees and toes song. - Have pupils open their books to Page 8. - Have pupils look at the words morning and afternoon and focus their attention on the letters colored differently in both words. - Tell them that they are going to learn to produce the sound of the letters ng in the word morning and that of the letters n in the word afternoon. Produce the sound ng and n a few times. Ask pupils to say what they imagine when they hear these sounds. - Have pupils repeat the focused words a few times. - Play the recording for pupils to listen and mime the chant. - Play the recording a second time for pupils to repeat each line of the chant, pointing to the line in their books. - Repeat the step the few times so that pupils can remember the text. - Call on a pair of pupils to the front of the class, have one repeat each line of the chant, and the other mime the line. - Repeat the step but this time has pupils swap their roles. - Have pupils practise saying and miming the chant in groups. Monitor the activity, check pupils’ pronunciation, and offer them help when necessary. - Call on a group to recite and mime the chant. The rest of the class claps their hands at the focused words. - Ask pupils a few simple questions to check their comprehension. - Have the whole class recite the chant in chorus to reinforce pupils’ pronunciation. - Have pupils to look at the pictures on Page 8. Elicit them to talk about the time in the pictures. - Tell pupils that they are going to listen to the recording, match the information they hear to the correct pictures, ticking the box in the corner of the appropriate picture. - Play the recording for pupils to listen. Tell them to look closely at the pictures in their books while they are listening. - Play the recording once more for pupils to listen. Tell them to number the correct pictures while they are listening. - Replay the recording for pupils to check their answers. - Have pupils trade their answers in pairs or groups to do correction. - Ask pupils a few questions to check their comprehension. - Have the class repeat all the sentences on the recording to reinforce pupils’ pronunciation. - Have pupils produce the sounds of the letters ng in morning and that of the letters n in afternoon.
