WEEK 16 Date of planning: 24/12/2021 Date of teaching: 28/12/2021 UNIT 12: DON’T RIDE YOUR BIKE TOO FAST! LESSON 1: 1+2+3 (page: 12,13) STAGE 1: DESIRED OBJECTIVES/ OUTCOMES A. OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1. Identify the situation for the conversation among Tom and Mary (setting, participants, topics); 2. Express and respond to concern about possible accidents at home , using the sentence patterns “ Don’t ....! ? OK, I won’t ” 3. Warning some one to not do dangerous actions. B. LANGUAGE FOCUS Vocabulary knife, matches, stairs, stove, arm, leg, climb, run down Key grammatical structure The sentence patterns: Don’t ....! ? OK, I won’t. C. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES. - Textbook: Tiếng Anh 5: Student’s book page 12,13 - Track (Unit 12- page 12), - 4 pictures of activities (Activity 2 – page 12) - Situational pictures and character cards - a computer and a projector. STAGE 2: ASSESSMENT EVIDENCE Performance Tasks Performance products Assessment tools 1. Answer the questions about the Observation situation for the conversation Questions & answers among Tom and Mary such as Students’ answers Key setting, participant, topics. 2. Practice a role-play conversation Students' talk and with classmates, using the picture Observation interaction prompts. 3. Use appropriate attitudes and gestures to express and respond to Student’s interaction and Observation concern about possible accidents at performance Questions& answers home STAGE 3: LEARNING EXPERIENCES/ LEARNING PLAN Warmer: Greeting and watching - Greet the students. Present Unit 12. Point at the title and read it twice for Ss to repeat. Check comprehension and give feedback. Activity 1: Look, listen and repeat - Ask students to look at the four pictures (page 12) and answer questions to identify the situation for the conversation. 1. Who are they? (They are Tom and Mary) 2. Where are they? (in his bedroom, in the kitchen) 3. What are they doing?( talking about accidents in the kitchen.) - Tell students that they are going to listen a conversation among Tom and Mary - Play the recording, ask students to listen and repeat the dialogue - Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking. - Play the recording again for students to listen and repeat. - Elicit the sentence pattern : Don’t ....! ? OK, I won’t” and explain the meaning and the use. Activity 2: full Controlled & less controlled Task 1: Point and say - Use pictures to elicit: knife, matches, stairs, stove, arm, leg, climb, run down - Point to the first picture and model the task with one student, using the expressions in the bubbles and the word under the picture. Teacher: Don’t play with the matches Student: OK, I won’t. - Ask students to say the phrases chorally and individually. Repeat the same procedure with the rest of the pictures. - Ask students to practice in pairs, using the prompts in the bubbles and the pictures. - Call on some pairs to ask ans answer about. Task 2: Let’s talk - Show some pictures about some dangerous actions at home. - Have students express and respond to concern about possible accidents at home, using the sentence patterns “ Don’t ....! ? OK, I won’t.” - Ask them to interview 3 or 4 friends: one student asks the question and the other answers with facts about themselves and then exchange the roles. - Monitor the activity and offer help if necessary. - Call on some groups of students to role-play in front of the class. Activity 3: Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? (express and respond to concern about possible accidents at home, using the sentence patterns “ Don’t ....! ? OK, I won’t.” ...) 2. What’re the core values of the lesson? Warning some one to not do dangerous actions. - Remind students to prepare for the next lesson. D. Ask and answer about accident prevention, using the sentence patterns “ Why shouldn’t I.....? Because you may ..... ” 3.Know the way to prevent the possible accidents at home. B. Because he/ she may ....... ..” - Ask them to work in pairs. - Monitor the activity and offer help if necessary. - Call on some pairs to role -play in front of the class. Activity 3: Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? (Ask and answer about accident prevention, using the sentence patterns “Why shouldn’t I.....? Because you may......” ...) 2. What’re the core values of the lesson? Know the way to prevent the possible accidents at home. - Remind students to prepare for the next lesson. D.
