OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: 1.Identify the situation for the conversation between Linda and Mai(setting, participants, topics); 2.Ask and answer questions about the weather in different places. Using What’s the weather like? ̶ It’s ______. 3.Show interests, polite and know how to ask and answer questions about the weather in different places. B. LANGUAGE FOCUS. Vocabulary sunny, rainy, cloudy, windy, snowy, stormy Key grammatical structure What’s the weather like? ̶ It’s ______. C. INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES. - Textbook: Tiếng Anh 3, sach mem .vn ,student’s book page 60 - 6 pictures of activities (Activity 2 – page 60) - A computer and a projector. Activity 1: Look, listen and repeat - Have Ss open their books page 60. - Tell ss that they are going to practice talking about the weather. - Draw ss’ attention to the first picture and elicit the name of the character and explain what they say. - Use 2 puppets to present the situation. - Play the tape. - Play the tape again. - Ask ss work in pairs to practice the dialogues. - Use pictures to introduce new words: sunny, rainy, cloudy, windy, snowy, stormy. - Teach new structures: +What’s the weather like? It’s .. - Monitor the activity. Activity 2: Full controlled &less controlled Task 1: Point and say - Have pupils look at each the picture. - Ask pupils to identify activities. - Use the first picture as an example and put the question and answer on the board. - Have Ss repeat the phrases a few times. - Ask Ss to practice in pairs. - Monitor the activity. - Call on some pairs (4-5 pairs) to perform the task at the front of the class. - Observe and give comments. - Have the whole class repeat all the dialogue. Task 2: : Let’s talk - Have Ss look at the pictures on page 60. - Tell ss that they are going to practice more with their friends. - Point to the first picture and ask Ss to guess what they say. - Ask Ss fill the speech bubbles. - Have Ss repeat the sentences in the bubbles. - Ask ss to work in pairs. - Monitor the activity. - Call a few pairs to the front of the class to act out the dialogue. Activity 3: Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? Ask and answer questions about the weather in different places. Using What’s the weather like? ̶ It’s ______. 2. What’re the core values of the lesson? - Show interests, polite and know how to ask and answer questions about the weather in different places. - Remind students to learn new words and structure by heart. - Prepare for the next lesson (Unit 19Lesson 3. 1,2,3 on pages 62). STAGE 2: ASSESSMENT EVIDENCE Activity 1: Greet & song. - Get ss to sing the song The weather song. - Monitor the activity. Activity 2: Presentation (Listen and repeat - page 62) - Have Ss open their books page 62. - Tell Ss that they are going to review phrases of saying rainy and skate. - Produce the sound of the letter ai in the words rainy and that of the letter a-e in the word skate. - Play the tape. - Play the tape again. Activity 3: Listening practice (Activity 2:.Listen and write) - Have Ss open their books to page 62. - Get Ss to talk about the way to do the task. - Tell Ss that they are going to listen and write the missing words in dialogues 1 and 2. - Listen and check answer. - Ask Ss trade their answers within pairs or groups for correction. - Ask 3-4 Ss to read their answers aloud to the class - Listen and give comments. - Have the whole class repeat each line of the dialogues. Activity 5: Chant practice (Activity 3: Let’s chant on page 62) Where are you? - Ask Ss to look at the chant in their books. - Play the tape and ask Ss to listen. - Play the tape again. - Ask Ss to practice singing in groups. - Call on one group to perform the chant at the front of the class Activity 6: Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? (learn the way to pronounce the letter clusters ai in rainy and a-e in skate) 2. What’re the core values of the lesson? (show respect for each other when do together and positive attitude .
