What did you do in the summer vacation? 2. Where did you go? 3. Were you happy? - Answer and maybe make some questions about the T. 2/ Presentation: (15’) - Ask Ss to retell the main contents at the class 8. - Call on Ss to report. - Wirte on the board that Ss mention. - Give feedback and correct if any mistakes. - Retell all the main contents. 1. OBJECTIVES: - By the end of the lesson , Ss will be able to introduce their fatherland to a foreigners pen pal about some famous places in Ha Noi such as Hoan Kiem Lake, Ho Chi Minh museum, history museum… II. PREPARATIONS: Textbook, cassette player. III. PROCEDURES: TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES STUDENTS’ ACTIVITIES 1/ Warm-up: (5’) - Show 6 pictures of famous places in VietNam, then ask: + Where are they? - Ask Ss to call out the name of the pictures. - Have Ss tell some attractive places in their local. - Look at 6 pictures and guess what places they are. - Call out the name of the places:Temple of Literature ;Hung Temple; Dong Xuan Market; Ben Thanh market; history museum. - Tell some places: Lak lake, Da Long stream. 2/ Presentation: (15’) $ Activity 1: - Introduce the situation of the passage: “Razali Maryam, Lan’s pen pal visited her for the fist time and Lan took her to some places of interest in Hanoi.” - Play cassette once the 1st paragraph, then ask them questions: + What do you know about Maryam? - Get Ss to listen all the text, and ask + Where did Lan take Maryam? - Play cassette again, and point out some new words. 1. Vocabulary: 1. mosque (n): nhà thờ Hồi giáo 2. correspond (v): trao đổi bằng thư (explanation) 3. be impressed by: ấn tượng (translation) 4. pray (v): cầu nguyện (explanation) 5. keep in touch (v): giữ liên lạc (explanation) 6. depend on (v): phụ thuộc (translation) $ Activity 2: -Remind them of old structures,and introduce new one. 2. Structure: 1. Past habit: Used to + V( bare inf..) * Ex: + Lan used to walk past the mosque on her way to primary school. + Does she often walk past the mosque now? C “used to” means usually or often did s.th in the past and no longer now. 2. “Wish” + What did Lan say to Maryam? C S1 + wish + S2 + V (V2/ed) *“be” “were” - Listen to the teacher. - Listen to cassette, and answer the questions. + She is from Kuala Lumpur. - Listen carefully, then answer + Hoan Kiem lake, HCM’s Mausoleum, the history museum, the Temple of Literature, mosque. - Listen, guess and take note. - Find out structures. + No. She doesn’t do it any more. + I wish I had a longer vacation. - Copy down. 3/ Practice: (15’) - Have Ss read the text silently again, then choose the correct option to complete the sentences. - Call on some Ss to read their answer. - Read silently, and do the task. 1.
