III. PROCEDURES:
PERIOD 9/ WEEK 4 Date of teaching: Unit 2 : MY HOME Lesson1 - GETTING STARTED: A look inside I.OBJECTIVES: By the end of this Unit, students can: Use some vocabularies and structures to talk about rooms and houses Use prepositions of place II . PREPARATION : sub -board, pictures, cassette III. TECHNIQUES: Matching, pair work, communicative approach. III. PROCEDURES: Teacher’s and students’ activities Content Activity 1: Warm up: Introduction -Ask Ss to look at the picture and answer some questions about the picture E.g.: Who are they? What are Mi and Nick doing? Can you guess what they are talking about? ( Introduce) Are they talking about their school or their houses? I think they are talking about this thing (draw picture of the house) Activity 2 : - Write the title on the board and explain the meaning of “home and Skype” and ask Ss to guess what the picture might show or what the conversation might be about. - Ask Ss to share any recent experiences of their chatting online. - Ask them to talk a bit about the place where they live. -Play the recording. Ss listen and read. Activity 3 : 1a -Ask Ss to give the answers without reading the conversation again. Which family members does Mi talk about? -Then ask them to read the conversation and check their answers. -Confirm the correct answers. Activity 4 :1b Ss work independently. Allow them to share answers before discussing as a class. Write the correct answers on the board. 2Activity 5 - -Ask Ss if they know the prepositions in the box. - Have Ss do this exercise in pairs. Ask for Ss’ answers. Activity 6 3 -Ss write the sentences individually, then share the sentences with a friend. - -Call on some Ss to write their answers on the board. Check the sentences with the whole class. Activity 7 -Ss look at the picture of the room and do this exercise individually. -Ss share their answers with a partner before giving T the answers. -Confirm the correct answers. Activity 8 - Ask Ss to do this exercise without looking at the picture again and play a game - Ask Ss to close their books, Ss work in pairs. Ask the questions, whichever pair raises their hands first will answer the question. If their answer is correct, give them 1 point. If it isn’t, other pairs have the right to answer. Record the points on the board. Finally, announce the winner. -They are Mi and Nick -They are talking on the Skype.( Mi and Nick are pen friends) -They are talking about their houses.
